The Balboa Pavilion Grand Wine Tasting takes place this fall bringing together locals & visitors alike to a vintage waterfront celebration at the historic Balboa Pavilion in Newport Beach. Taste world-class wine & enjoy spectacular views of Newport Harbor while indulging in samples of scrumptious cuisine provided by Harborside – the most iconic Newport Beach waterfront restaurant located inside the historic building built in 1906.

Attendees will receive a commemorative wine glass with a who’s-who list of over 20+ wineries & boutique vintners pouring amazing fine wines. Wine connoisseurs will join “snobs in training” to indulge their passion & palate. As guests sip & mingle they will be surrounded with dynamic picturesque views of beautiful Newport Harbor, wine country ambiance, upbeat entertainment & savor delicious fresh fare paired just for them featuring the innovative talent of the award-winning Harborside restaurant culinary team. Guests are encouraged to walk, bike, carpool, cab or UBER to event. Please don’t drink and drive. There is limited valet parking available & ample street, beachside parking available in the municipal parking lot one block away.

Tacos Tu Madre

Thanks to Damoneats I was invited to attend the soft opening of Tacos Tu Madre in Westwood. They are a fast casual taco shack that serves delicious fusion tacos including vegan ones too!

We got to sample a number of tacos

Duck molé
Carnitas
Chorizo & Egg
Vegan Banh Mi
KBBQ

All were very tasty! To my surprise the vegan taco tasted best! The tofu was firm and had a nice char. And the pickled veggies were so fresh and had a perfect crunch to them.

Be sure to get the frozen horchata. It’s SO good! Oh, and you can’t end your meal without getting those warm red velvet churros with cream cheese. Yum!

The CAKE Expo

There’s a Cake Expo happening this weekend at the Orange County Fairgrounds!

If you love baking, cake decorating, or just love cakes, pastries, and delicious bites, then you must hit the CAKE expo.

There will be a VIP reception from 9am-11am and a two day live event devoted to the world of baking and the art of entertaining.

All VIP ticket holders will receive a swag bag filled with goodies valued at $300, on site pampering, 2 hours early entrance, and participate in some exclusive live demos.

You will get the opportunity to meet and mingle with some of the tops celebrity chefs, bakers, and decorators. Be sure to hit up the Party Style Lounge for a chance to meet and greet with author Gemma Touchstone; she’ll be signing her NEW book Party Style. Baking with Melissa will be there to construct delicious and delightful masterpieces before your eyes.

Second Annual Newport Beach Wine & Food Festival

Following the success of the inaugural event, the Newport Beach Wine & Food Festival returns to Newport Beach, CA October 2-4, 2015. The Festival begins on the evening of Friday, October 2, with the official Launch Party & Charity Event at Oak Grill and Aqua Lounge, one of Newport Beach’s hottest nightspots and dining destinations.

During the Daytime Festival on Saturday, October 3, and Sunday, October 4, enjoy live cooking demos with celebrity chefs, interactive wine panels with master sommeliers, mixology courses and live jazz. Our Grand Tasting Pavilions will boast 30 of OC’s finest restaurants with over 200 wines poured for tastings. Saturday and Sunday daytime events takes place at the Newport Beach Civic Center. Net proceeds from the weekend benefit charity partner Project Hope Alliance.
